Eco-Friendly Green Shipping Supplies

You have items that need to be packaged for shipping.  Getting the items to their destination safe and sound is your primary goal.  But you also want to be ecologically responsible.  According to the EPA 31% or 77 million tons of municipal solid waste comes from containers and packaging (http://www.epa.gov/epawaste/nonhaz/municipal/pubs/msw2008rpt.pdf).

Are there products out there that will help you protect your shipments while minimizing additions to the landfill?  Fortunately, the answer is now a resounding yes.

Bubblefast (Mark and Robin Le Vine’s Gurnee, IL family owned shipping supply company) has introduced an exciting new line of eco-friendly shipping supplies.  Included in the “Earth Friendly” Shipping Supplies category are the following products with more to come: 

Green bubble cushioning wrap :  Green recycled bubble cushioning rolls are now available.  Actually green in color (exact shade may vary), each roll is made with a minimum of 35% recycled plastic.  Green bubble is available in ½” or 3/16” thickness.  Each roll is perforated every 12 inches for ease of use.

Biodegradable Packing Peanuts Environmentally friendly and economical, these biodegradable packing peanuts bring you all of the best features of loose-fill and correct concerns about using loose-fill, such as static, strength, and durability.  Completely natural and 100% biodegradable, recyclable, reusable and compostable.  A clean air product with no CFCs.  Special formulation does not attract rodents.  No dependence on foreign oil for production.   

Padded Mailers:  Made from 100% recycled paper.  The cushioning inside the bag is made from recycled fiber padding and absorbs shock and protects contents from damage during shipping.  Our padded mailers come in a variety of sizes and are self-sealing and recyclable.  

Tape:  Eco-tape brand earth-friendly clear and tan carton sealing tape is made with 25% recycled resin.  Core is 100% recycled. 2.5 mil thickness provides for excellent quality.  Our 2" wide acrylic tape comes in 110 yard rolls.

Boxes - Our corrugated boxes are made from 100% post consumer materials, 100% recyclable.

Go an extra step by re-using all of these products (except the tape!).  Note about re-using boxes: Be advised that standard corrugated boxes can lose approximately 60% of their strength during their first use.  Be careful when re-using boxes for heavy items.  Be sure to tape securely and generously.
